Job description
Recreation Facility Clerk Supervisor

(Replacement Temporary Full-Time)

Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore and home to parks, beaches, and to sports, recreation and arts amenities. The Community Services Department is hiring a Replacement Temporary Full-Time Recreation Facility Clerk Supervisor to join our team, who is responsible for:

  • Planning, assigning, checking, supervising, scheduling, and training of a moderate sized group of subordinates engaged in customer service, cashiering, processing admissions, registrations, and rentals.
  • Balancing cash and cheque remittances in payment of fees, registrations and rental accounts.
  • Maintaining time sheets and absenteeism reports for full and part time employees.
  • Training, educating and supporting the use of the recreation management software (ActiveNet).
  • Supervising the processing, checking and maintaining of office records, files, reports, documents.
  • Compiling statistical reports for budget preparation purposes.
  • Providing information and assisting the public regarding activities; interpreting rules, policies and procedures and handling complaints and inquiries, ability to make independent judgements and referring complex issues to a supervisor.
  • Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with public user groups and staff; and
  • Performing other related duties as required.

The candidate will have completed a Grade 12 education supplemented by courses related to the work and considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience; flexibility to work variable shifts including evenings and weekends according to operational requirements; and a valid BC Driver's License.

This position requires considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of community recreation; the ability to supervise and participate in the work of a moderate sized group of cashiering and clerical subordinates; the ability to exercise sound judgment, to resolve problems, and to make decisions in accordance with the applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; the ability to review, develop and upon approval, implement new or improved systems and procedures in order to improve efficiencies for staffing and facility scheduling; the ability to meet deadlines and to function effectively during busy periods, and the ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public and staff at all times.

The successful candidate must have a valid CPR certificate and is required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status: WVMEA (Union) – Replacement Temporary Full-Time

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (Replacement-Temporary Full-Time). Hours and days of work may vary.

Starting Rate of Pay: $32.75 per hour (2025 rates) plus 14% in lieu of benefits. This position has a pay structure with five steps which increase annually.
