Job Description

Job Purpose

The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Quality Management System including planning, organizing, leading and controlling program activities. Additionally, the Quality Manager is responsible for the coordination of all activities pertaining to achieving and maintaining accredited status through the various accrediting bodies.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain and monitor an integrated Quality Management System.
  • Develop initiatives to support and improve the Quality Management System.
  • Audit of the day-to-day delivery of the services to maintain or improve on processes.
  • Develop and review annually the facility's Global policies, processes and SOPs.
  • Set standards for quality, as well as health and safety issues.
  • Act as liaison to external assessment organizations.
  • Coordinate & facilitate accreditation processes.
  • Coordinate site inspections.
  • Maintenance & control of document library.
  • Perform facility safety inspections & audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation both federal & provincial including but not limited to: MOL, MOE, Health Canada, Ontario Public Health.
  • Provide or facilitate health & safety education and training for all staff members through Citation Canada.
  • Monitor incident reporting process, outcomes and trending.
  • Stewardship of Safety, Patient Care, L&P and QA Committees.
  • Develop and produce Ontario Fertility Program annual reports.
  • Liaise with other health professionals/organizations where necessary to ensure that all aspects of the services provided through the facility are provided in accordance with generally accepted professional standards.
Other responsibilities
  • Foster the development and maintenance of organizational plans: Strategy, Operating, Risk, Emergency And Disaster, Contingency, And Quality And Patient Safety.
  • Aid in the development of Organizational Term/Balanced Scorecard Report.
  • Provide aid to Department Heads Re: writing & maintaining procedure manuals.
  • Acting Quality Manager for Create Cord Blood Bank.
  • Member of the Quality Assurance Committee - ensure planning and management.
  • Member of the Leadership & Partnership & Occupational health & Safety Committee.
  • Collaboration with HR Manager to promote an organizational culture of safety.
Qualifications
  • M.Sc.
  • 5 years of experience in an IVF clinic/laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge of and training in quality assurance/control procedures.
  • Detail oriented & effective organizational skills.
  • Good interpersonal and team skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem solving.
  • Previous public relations skills are an asset.
  • Previous infection control training.
Working Conditions
  • Weekends when required to meet deadlines.
  • Holidays when required to meet deadlines.
