TITLE: Public Engagement, Manager (QC)
TERMS: Permanent full-time position (34 hours per week, Monday to Thursday). Some travel, weekend and evening work may be required.
LOCATION: Hybrid. Located at our Montreal (Kanien’kehà:ka territory) office.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position is hybrid, with a combination of remote work and 2 in-office days per week.

Role Description (English)
As the Public Engagement and Community Organizing Manager for Francophone Canada, your expertise in strategic public engagement and community organizing is essential. You will work with a variety of stakeholders to develop and implement regional mobilization initiatives, evaluate results, and collaborate with public engagement, communications teams, and external partners to achieve engagement goals across Quebec and Canada. You will supervise two members of the public engagement team and work closely with the Director of Engagement to lead an integrated team.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning and Delivery (60%)
- Work with the Director of Engagement, Senior Communications Manager and Public Engagement Manager (anglophone team) to improve work, integration, best practices and alignment of public engagement staff and community organizers.
- Monitor community mobilization initiatives and trends in Quebec.
- Identify strategies and best practices for mobilization objectives at national and regional levels.
- Collaborate on developing a movement in support of major Quebec mobilizations, focusing on biodiversity protection and environmental / climate justice.
- Provide expert recommendations on mobilization partnerships and represent the Foundation at movement or coalition meetings.
- Evaluate effectiveness of mobilization strategies using research methods and partner consultations to adapt or create new strategies.
- Collaborate with Foundation teams to prioritize, plan, budget and launch strategic engagement initiatives that raise public awareness and action, and meet objectives.
- Manage the Quebec public engagement budget and track expenses.
- Community and Initiative Support (20%)
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, influencers, opinion leaders (municipalities, citizen groups, volunteers, coalitions, mobilization experts, NGOs, etc.).
- Provide opportunities for diverse communities to mobilize and take action.
- Offer learning and transformation opportunities within and outside the Foundation.
- Advocacy and Events (20%)
- Act as a regional spokesperson and expert on mobilization, engagement and biodiversity / climate protection for French-language media interviews.
- Organize or participate in events / workshops with the public mobilization and engagement team, communications team and other Foundation teams.
- Note: activities may occur outside regular hours, weekends and holidays.
Qualifications (English)
- University degree in communications, social sciences, environmental sciences or a related field, and more than five years of progressive experience in a similar field.
- At least three years of experience in management positions or in teams with administrative functions.
- Exceptional written communication skills in French; excellent communication skills in English.
- Expertise in mobilization campaigns and coalition work; knowledge of mobilization initiatives across the country.
- Strong work ethic and project-management skills.
- Proven ability to calmly and professionally manage high-stress situations.
- Positive and inspiring attitude to motivate the team and ensure timely project completion.
- Judgment and competence as a progressive leader.

Qualifications / Compétences (French)
- Diplôme universitaire en communications, en sciences sociales, en sciences de l’environnement ou dans un domaine connexe et plus de cinq années d’expérience progressive dans un domaine similaire.
- Au moins trois ans d’expérience dans des postes de gestion ou dans des équipes ayant des fonctions administratives.
- Compétences exceptionnelles en communication écrite en français; excellentes compétences en communication en anglais.
- Expertise en campagnes de mobilisation et en travail en coalitions; connaissance des initiatives de mobilisation à travers le pays.
- Solide éthique de travail et aptitudes en gestion de projet.
- Capacité démontrée à gérer des situations de stress intense avec calme et professionnalisme.
- Capacité à motiver l’équipe et à assurer l’achèvement des projets dans les délais.
- Valeurs personnelles alignées avec la mission et les valeurs de la Fondation.
