POSITION SUMMARY

A Psychologist is required for the CHEO Eating Disorders Program. The Psychologist will be part of an interdisciplinary team offering services to children and youth who have severe eating disorders. The Eating Disorders program includes an inpatient unit a new partial hospitalization program a day treatment program and outpatient services.

Job Description
  • Provides psychodiagnostic and psychological assessments
  • Provides therapeutic interventions to individuals families and groups using empirically-supported modalities including Family Based Therapy (FBT) and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)
  • Provides consultation / liaison with the multidisciplinary pediatric health-care environment and community professionals
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team rounds and case planning
  • Participates in and supports program outcome monitoring and clinical research activities
  • Engages in training and education of Psychology residents and practicum students within the discipline of Psychology
  • Maintains current knowledge in evidence-based practices through literature reviews consulting with clinical and community experts in the field evaluating clinical practices and participating in professional development activities in order to improve quality of care
  • Performs administrative tasks such as maintaining clinical documentation reports and progress notes workload statistics and updating health records in accordance with established standards
  • Participates in committees within the discipline of Psychology
  • Carries other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from a CPA and / or APA accredited university program (Essential)
  • Registration as a Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario or eligibility for registration (Essential)
  • Designated area of practice in Clinical Psychology with Children and Adolescents (Essential)
  • Experience assessing and treating children and youth presenting with severe eating disorders (Preferred)
  • Experience with the assessment and treatment of children and youth presenting with severe mental health difficulties (Essential)
  • Experience with group and family therapy (Essential)
  • Ability to work in a high paced interdisciplinary team (Essential)
  • Strong interpersonal skills ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals (Essential)
  • Bilingual Fluency in both French and English (Preferred)
  • Timeline may be extended or shortened based on operational needs
  • Please note you will be represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU). Please note that this position will be based out of Ottawa. Location may be subject to change at any time at the discretion of the employer. All OPSEU members shall be granted an interview upon passing the pre-screening. Pre-screening might include testing.

Effective March 29 2021 CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test practical exam or other assessment. All candidates who meet the essential and preferred qualifications may be tested.
