Job Description

The Project Manager, Planning Governance plays a pivotal role in strengthening the effectiveness, consistency, and continuous improvement of the Planning function. This role drives the evolution of the ISI Planning Governance Framework by leading high‑impact, cross‑functional initiatives that improve performance, alignment, and operational excellence.

In this role, you will champion risk‑based thinking, build strong relationships across the organization, and apply disciplined project management practices to deliver meaningful, measurable results. Your work will span benchmarking, process and documentation development, and organizational change management-ensuring Planning remains structured, efficient, and future‑ready. You will also provide program‑level project management support to Planning control account managers, enabling them to succeed through accurate progress reporting, robust change control, and informed resource planning.

Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within the ISI Planning Governance Framework.
  • Manage and execute strategic projects to support improvements in Planning function, including the following activities, as required:
    • Define project
    • Lead cross‑functional project teams
    • Perform research and benchmarking
    • Develop documentation and processes
    • Manage change
  • Perform programmatic project management activities to support Planning function control account managers, including:
    • Progress reporting
    • Change requests
    • Statements of work
    • Resource planning
  • Support risk identification and mitigation to support achieving business objectives.
Qualifications
  • Degree in engineering, business, or related field.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience, including 5+ in project management.
  • PMP, Prosci, and/or Six Sigma considered assets (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong strategic mindset with risk‑based decision‑making and continuous improvement focus.
  • Solid project management skills across scope, schedule, budget, change, and risk.
  • Excellent technical writing and ability to simplify complex information.
  • Strong technical aptitude, problem‑solving, and quick learning.
  • Highly organized with strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full‑time, in‑office presence.
