Job Description

Kent is looking for a Project Manager in Calgary, Alberta. The role requires a minimum of 15 years of relevant oil and gas project experience and a strong background managing power generation and carbon capture projects.

As the primary contact for clients, the Project Manager will manage all performance aspects of assigned projects, ensuring quality, safety, schedule, and budget objectives are met. The role includes leadership over engineering, procurement, planning, construction, pre‑commissioning, labour relations, and safety functions.

Responsibilities
  • Understand and apply Kent’s local and global project management systems.
  • Maintain project financials using the company’s ERP and finance platforms, including earned‑value management and cost forecasting.
  • Assist with proposal estimates and define project execution plans, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Control project costs through expenditure review, contractor contract administration, and timely invoicing.
  • Coordinate with finance, PMO, and client teams on variations, change orders, purchase orders, and payments.
  • Monitor scope and schedule, identify variations and ‘extension of time’ (EOT) requirements, and approve these changes with clients.
  • Lead project close‑out activities, including lessons‑learned capture, marketing materials, and archiving.
  • Ensure compliance with Kent’s Management System (KMS) quality processes and legal policies.
  • Coordinate and manage resources, tools, and remote global teams, addressing any concerns with senior management.
  • Prepare and maintain risk and opportunities registers throughout proposal, design, and construction phases.
  • Review and secure legal reviews of client contracts, ensuring awareness of contract requirements and risks.
  • Engage and manage subcontractors using Kent commercial templates and ERP.
  • Assist with procurement and contract negotiations to deliver benefits to the overall project and client.
  • Maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring all expectations are met.
  • Act as a focal point for all client communication, cultivating relationships and managing client expectations.
Qualifications & Knowledge
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of oil and gas project experience.
  • Experience managing power generation and carbon capture projects.
  • Proven ability to lead multi‑discipline teams through feasibility, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, and execution phases.
  • Comprehensive understanding of contract requirements, negotiations, and risk management.
  • PMP certification (or equivalent).
