Project Estimator

Location: Home Centre, Minnedosa, MB

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Director of Operations – Food & Energy, the Project Estimator is responsible for providing estimates, consultation, and advice to Customers for building projects. This includes interpreting client input, documentation, specifications and design drawings to determine the costing and selling price associated with building materials and manufactured components of the project. The role supports the values, vision, mission and brand of Heritage Co-op.

Key Job Responsibilities include:

  • Build strong customer relationships with contractors, architects, engineers, building inspectors, design professionals, material vendors, trades, local Co‑ops, local home builder/contractor associations and stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Provide information, assistance and exceptional customer service.
  • Design kitchen layouts and generate quotes.
  • Collaborate with the Home Centre team to meet or exceed Heritage Co‑op Brand standards.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, or computer‑aided drawings and provide estimates, outlining overall material requirements and recommending changes when building code, structural integrity or efficiency may be a concern.
  • Support tendering processes; provide quantities, costing and information associated with the overall building project.
  • Provide leadership and expertise for in‑house project planning.
  • Monitor building material inventory levels, forecast requirements and order accordingly.
  • Maintain safe and efficient operations while adhering to policies, procedures and standards.
Who You Are
  • You have a minimum of 3–6 years of related experience.
  • Completion of Levels 1 & 2 project estimating course.
  • Construction experience is an asset.
  • You can identify issues and problem‑solve.
  • You possess excellent interpersonal skills and extensive customer service experience.
  • You have cabinetry design experience.
  • Proven effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Can work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Drafting and design courses are an asset.
  • Willing to work rotational weekends.
