Project Engineer

Our Engineering team has a rewarding opportunity for Project Engineers. Dynamic professionals are invited to join our team.

Overview

Our Engineering Division develops and oversees long‑range planning, design, construction supervision, efficient and sustainable design, and records management for the City’s road infrastructure.

In this role, you will plan, schedule, and direct the City of Thunder Bay’s Infrastructure Asset Management portfolio and infrastructure improvements, while supporting ongoing growth and development projects.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, and direct infrastructure asset management portfolio
  • Support ongoing growth and development projects in the City
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions
Ideal Candidate
  • Degree in civil engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario
  • Three to five years of civil engineering experience, including project planning, design, and construction of municipal infrastructure
  • Supervisory experience with technical staff
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, guidelines, and environmental assessments
  • Ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences and handle on‑the‑spot questions from senior officials, City Council members, special interest groups, and the media
  • Proficient in computer software: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, AutoCAD, SoftDesk, ESRI GIS
  • Excellent project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
