Job summary

A leading infrastructure development company is seeking a Project Coordinator Co-op for a 12-month position in Bowmanville, Ontario. This role is part of a partnership supporting the Darlington New Nuclear Project. Responsibilities include planning material movements and assisting in project management. Candidates pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree with strong interpersonal and communication skills are preferred. Night shifts may be required. Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and maintaining Comprehensive Work Package.
  • Provide liaison function between field trades and design engineers.
  • Produce status and progress reports for the project team.
  • Establish interfaces with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Manage project deliverables, design documents, and as-built drawings.
  • Coordinate scheduling and resolve engineering issues.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance policies.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Develop material handling plans using 3D modeling tools.

What is the Opportunity?

As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon has been awarded a contract in an Aecon-led partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the execution phase on the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington, Ontario. Beginning in 2025 Aecon will support the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.

The Project Coordinator Co-op will report to the Project Manager and will be responsible for planning all critical material movements. This role will require continuous communication with all project team members and will be responsible for identifying and implementing continuous improvements of material handling methods.

What You'll Do Here:
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Comprehensive Work Package in cooperation with construction and engineering.
  • Provide and ensure effectiveness of the liaison function between field trades and design engineers for problem resolution and information flow.
  • Provides status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management.
  • Establish and maintain interfaces with other internal groups, subcontractors and suppliers supporting the project.
  • Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, as-built drawings, turnover documents, etc.
  • Coordinates activities relating to technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Active involvement in quality assurance with regards to understanding and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Ensure construction activities follow approved policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Monitor project schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Develop material handling plans using 3D modeling tools.
What You Bring to the Team:
  • Pursuing a Mechanical Engineering Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint applications an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Night shifts may be required.
