We are looking for a Project Controller to support our M Renewables Division in Calgary, Canada. This exciting new role offers the opportunity to establish best practices in project accounting, forecasting, and preparation of project financial statements, and to help build the project accounting team.

Responsibilities
  • Work side‑by‑side with project managers and act as the finance representative on project teams throughout the project lifecycle (development, construction, operations).
  • Prepare and maintain reporting on project costs to date and accrued commitments in collaboration with project managers.
  • Analyze and identify variances between project actuals and budget, updating forecasts based on results.
  • Review invoices in conjunction with contracts to ensure consistency with payment milestones and terms, approving and following up on discrepancies until resolved.
  • Coordinate project cash‑flow forecasting with development, construction, and operations teams, ensuring monthly sign‑off and approval by related stakeholders.
  • Provide project and cash‑flow related reporting to the parent company and performance reporting to lenders.
  • Prepare financial statements for project entities in compliance with IFRS and act as the key point of contact for external audit requests.
  • Build out the project accounting team, including proposing and implementing new policies, procedures, and software.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes impacting the renewable energy sector.
Qualifications
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with 5–7 years of proven work experience in a project or finance role, preferably in renewable energy or related industries such as large infrastructure or construction.
  • Experience with financial reporting under IFRS and a track record of working cross‑functionally with project managers and externally with auditors.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and related applications, with a willingness to adopt new technologies and software.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Exposure to working in international or multi‑entity environments is considered an asset.
