Job description

Peter Lucas Project Management invests in people, community, and cutting-edge technology to provide gold standard project delivery. We are currently looking for a Project Control Specialist to join our team.

The Project Controls Specialist will support the successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects by providing schedule, cost, and performance control services. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules and budgets, tracking progress, analyzing variances, forecasting project outcomes, and identifying risks and mitigation strategies. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineering, procurement, construction, and finance teams to ensure accurate reporting and data integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6
  • Monitor and analyze project budgets and expenditures; support cost forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Prepare project performance reports including earned value management (EVM), progress tracking, and risk exposure.
  • Work with procurement and contract teams to ensure vendor commitments align with project timelines and financial controls.
  • Identify schedule and cost risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support change management processes by analyzing impacts of scope, schedule, or cost changes.
  • Coordinate input from engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure consistent project control practices.
  • Participate in project reviews, audits, and lessons-learned sessions.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls, client requirements, and industry standards

While the role is primarily based in Regina and local candidates are preferred, we are open to considering exceptional candidates willing to relocate for the right fit.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in project controls within a technical, construction, or industrial setting.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6, with experience building and editing schedules, working from templates, and developing fully linked schedules with dependencies
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator, capable of presenting data and insights to various stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with project delivery frameworks (EPC, FEL, stage-gate processes) is an asset.
  • Experience in mining, oil & gas, utilities, or heavy industry preferred
