Valiant TMS, a global industry leader, is seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Project Accountant to join our Finance team in Windsor, Ontario. In this role, you will support project operations by monitoring budgets, analyzing costs, preparing financial reports, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the financial success of our projects. What You’ll Get To Do
  • Project Financial Management : Work closely with project managers and engineering teams to monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring accurate financial tracking.
  • Cost Analysis : Provide cost accounting and analysis support on ongoing projects, evaluate profitability, and identify cost variances.
  • Reporting : Prepare timely and accurate financial reports to keep stakeholders informed on project performance.
  • Month-End Support : Assist in preparing journal entries, accruals, and cost analysis to support month-end closing activities.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting : Collaborate in project budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and recommendations for financial planning.
  • Compliance & Controls : Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and relevant regulations.
What We’re Looking For
  • Education : A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation or working toward CPA is an asset.
  • Experience : 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a project-based environment.
  • Technical Skills : Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, SUMIF, VLOOKUP, and other intermediate formulas). Experience with SAP ERP software is strongly preferred.
  • Analytical Skills : Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify variances, and recommend solutions.
  • Communication Skills : Strong written and verbal communication to effectively collaborate with internal teams and present financial information.
  • Attention to Detail : High degree of accuracy and organizational competence in managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving : A proactive approach to identifying and resolving financial discrepancies.
  • Adaptability : Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Work Authorization : Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Travel to the U.S. may occasionally be required.
