Job Summary

Operated by the Faculty of Engineering at Dalhousie University and located on the Sexton Campus in Halifax’s vibrant downtown innovation district, the Emera ideaHUB accelerates the development of innovative physical-products. Reporting to the Associate Director, Emera ideaHUB, the Program Manager will design, deliver and execute the program content and administration, helping us provide a positive and relevant participant experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage program design for Emera ideaHUB offerings including ideaBUILD and ideaDESIGN programs, overseeing the planning, operations, and measurement of the programming.
  • Manage the selection of course facilitators and content development and refinement in preparation for selected programs. Manage course facilitator relationships, including evaluation, feedback, and program enhancements.
  • Lead monthly venture meeting sessions and convene the relevant experts for each venture team in the ideaBUILD program. Provide founders with the right resources and connections at the right time to support their venture development.
  • Actively build relationships with peers in accelerators and incubators in the region. Collaborate on timing and program priorities. Suggest opportunities for joint programming where it helps founders accelerate and achieve their goals.
  • Develop and manage impact metrics for specific programs. Liaise with Associate Director and Program Coordinator to advise on metrics, and support regular reporting requirements. Offer insights on opportunities for improvement and collaborate with team on enhancing programs year over year.
  • Create and manage budgets for programming in partnership with Associate Director. Provide timely updates on changes to expenses, including contractors/vendors and out-of-pocket items. Ensure financial reporting requirements are being met for funding partners and other partnerships.
Note

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field plus approximately three to five years business and project management experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Strong background in events, program management, logistics and operations, including experience developing events and programming, project management across multiple sites and stakeholders, and contact and vendor management.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and a detail-oriented approach with demonstrated experience managing details and logistics for concurrent events, teams, and facilities.
  • Experience with accounting, managing budgets and expenses, Customer Relationship Management ( CRM ) systems, and record maintenance.
  • Familiarity with start-up methodologies such as human-centered design, Lean, and Disciplined Entrepreneurship.
