Your Opportunity

One Permanent Full Time Position.

As a key member of the Total Rewards team, you will support the strategic design and governance of Capital Power’s pension, benefits, and abilities management programs across Canada and the U.S. This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) and trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, ensuring programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals. The role will also support compensation projects and initiatives as needed.

You will contribute to our team by:
  • Design, implement, and evolve pension, benefits, and disability management programs to support talent attraction, retention, and employee well‑being.
  • Ensure adherence to federal/provincial and U.S. regulations; maintain governance frameworks and reporting for leadership and board committees.
  • Manage relationships with consultants, brokers, and third‑party administrators; lead RFPs, contract negotiations, and monitor service performance.
  • Provide guidance and training to HR teams; support complex case resolution and prepare materials for Pension Committee and Board presentations.
  • Oversee short‑term and long‑term disability programs; develop return‑to‑work strategies and monitor trends to improve employee experience.
  • Lead or support cross‑functional Total Rewards projects, including plan redesigns, system implementations, and M&A integrations.
  • Monitor enrollment, utilization, and cost trends; analyze claims and provider performance; support surveys and reporting requirements.
  • Drive communication initiatives and maintain accurate program information on internal platforms; enhance Workday functionality for Total Rewards processes.
What you will bring to the role:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field; CEBS or similar designation preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in pension and benefits, ideally in a dual‑country (Canada/U.S.) context.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. pension legislation, benefits regulations, and disability compliance requirements.
  • Previous experience in compensation would be an asset.
  • Proven experience in governance, reporting, and vendor management.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and Excel skills.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including experience preparing materials for Board Committees.
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of independence and professionalism.
