Job description

What You Will Do

  • Review filling and packaging instructions at the beginning of line runs. Ensure the correct packaging materials are available. Ensure the correct Personal Protective Equipment is available and that safety procedures are understood and followed.
  • Ensure the line is set up correctly per the filling and packaging instructions.
  • Operate filling and packaging equipment continually. Types of equipment could include filler, sleeve labeler, cappers, tape machine, bar coders, ink jet printer, hand wrenches, hand stamps, palletizers, and lid presses. Adjust equipment to control weight, closures, or other specifications.
  • Take samples and keep the area clean.
  • Actively participate in Kaizens, 5S, and special projects.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for system and process waste elimination.
  • Complete and document activities that measure quality and productivity accurately and timely, including taking weights and performing basic quality tests. Enter results on paper or electronic systems.
  • Complete packaging and filling assignments meeting or exceeding standards.
  • Assist with line changeovers, including the collection of wash water.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Details

  • Plant location: 942 Baker Road, Martinsburg, WV
  • Work week and shift: 2nd Shift: Monday - Friday, 2PM - 10PM
  • Work week and shift: 3rd Shift: Sunday - Thursday, 10PM - 6AM
  • Compensation: $21.80/hour
  • Shift differential: +$0.35 for 2nd shift, +$0.50 for 3rd shift

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • No immigration sponsorship available for this role

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to complete training and master skills required by the position (including Hazardous Material Safety and DOT training)
  • Ability to understand and track safety, quality, and productivity data, including run rates, fill weights, and averages
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with Total Production Management (TPM) & Continuous Improvement Systems
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and teamwork abilities
  • Basic math skills, including operations with whole numbers, fractions, percentages, and decimals
