Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a senior Canadian crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company, focused on long-term growth through an active exploration, development, production, and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

The Production Operations Data Analyst is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and actionable data insights to support production operations, engineering and management decision-making. This role partners closely with Production Operations, Engineering, and Information Technology to ensure operational data is reliable, well-governed, and effectively translated into meaningful performance metrics and analytics.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and maintaining production reporting, performance dashboards, and analytical models that support both tactical operations and strategic planning. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to data quality, the ability to manage multiple deliverables and the ability to communicate complex information clearly to a broad range of stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide support to Production Operations by developing, improving, and maintaining applications, automations, and solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI
  • Build applications, automating workflows, and analyzing data to improve the overall efficiency of Production Operations at Tourmaline and reduce the administrative burden.
  • Translate production and operational data into meaningful insights that support day-to-day decisions and long-term strategy
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize dashboards, reports, and KPIs related to production performance, reliability, downtime, and efficiency
  • Partner with Production Operations, Engineering, and IT to define data requirements and ensure alignment between systems and business needs
  • Validate, reconcile, and troubleshoot data from multiple source systems to ensure accuracy and consistency (because bad data lies convincingly)
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities in production operations data
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing data-driven analysis and recommendations
  • Document data definitions, logic, and reporting standards to improve transparency and repeatability
  • Assist with automation and optimization of recurring reports and workflows
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests and analysis from operations and leadership teams
  • Work alongside various teams in Production Operations and collaborate with the Tourmaline ITS Data Team to ensure an easy user experience while implementing effective data governance.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience working with Microsoft Power Platform tools, including Power BI, Power Automate, Dataverse, and Power Query
  • Familiarity with production operations systems such as SCADA, production accounting and financial systems, and asset or maintenance management systems
  • Experience designing and developing dashboards and analytical reports using business intelligence tools
  • Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience querying and working with relational databases
  • Ability to identify business gaps, analyze problems, and deliver effective, data-driven solutions
  • Ability to work independently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong focus on providing high-quality support and continuous improvement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to respond effectively and efficiently to stakeholder inquiries
