Overview

Location : Hybrid – 4 days per week in office (Toronto, ON)

Client : Top Canadian Bank

A Top Canadian Bank is seeking two experienced Product Owners to lead a high-visibility, multi-year program to modernize and replace the bank’s WIRE PAYMENT system. This role will serve as the front office’s subject matter expert for WIRE PAYMENTS, acting as the central liaison between business stakeholders, technology teams, and delivery partners.

The Product Owner will define requirements, manage the product backlog, and ensure the delivery of scalable and compliant wire payment solutions aligned with the bank’s enterprise payments strategy.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary owner of the WIRE PAYMENTS product domain, ensuring features and capabilities align to business priorities.
• Partner with business, operations, and technology stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into user stories.
• Manage and prioritize the product backlog, driving scope and delivery decisions.
• Lead Agile ceremonies (refinement, planning, demos) to align cross-functional teams.
• Provide subject matter expertise in WIRE PAYMENTS and SWIFT messaging standards.
• Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to senior leadership.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Direct hands-on experience with WIRE PAYMENTS – mandatory.
• 7+ years of experience in product ownership or business analysis within banking / financial services.
• Strong knowledge of payments systems (WIRE, SWIFT, real-time payments).
• Proven stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to influence across functions.
• Experience working in Agile environments, including backlog ownership and refinement.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Deep understanding of WIRE PAYMENTS processes and operations.
• Broader exposure to payments industry solutions (real-time, cross-border).
• Knowledge of regulatory / compliance frameworks in payments.
