Job description

Job Title: Product Owner, E‐commerce & Growth (Marketplaces + DTC)
Primary Location: Remote Ontario or British Columbia, Canada
Position Type: Contract‐to‐Hire (3-month contract with potential for extension or conversion after 6 months)

Overview

TalentFish is casting a line for a Product Owner, E‐commerce & Growth (Marketplaces + DTC). This is a Contract-to-Hire role that can be performed remotely in Ontario or British Columbia, Canada.

The reason this position exists is to lead the go-to-market strategy and platform evaluation for a new consumer merchandise initiative, including Marketplace, Direct-to-Consumer (DTC), and Hybrid models. The successful candidate will own strategic planning, channel acquisition, media performance, KPI setting, and vendor/platform analysis.

What You Bring to the Role (Ideal Experience)
  • 7 -10+ years of experience in e-commerce product and growth roles
  • Proven track record launching Marketplace and DTC programs
  • Expertise in strategy development, scorecards, and executive-ready presentations
  • Familiarity with platforms like Shopify, BigCommerce, SFCC, or headless commerce
  • Strong understanding of retail media and performance marketing (Meta, TikTok, Google)
  • Measurement and attribution knowledge: GA4, UTMs, server-side tagging, incrementality testing
  • Experience partnering with Finance and Supply Chain teams on MoR programs
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
Nice to have
  • Experience in entertainment/gaming merchandise, pre-orders, or international commerce (VAT/GST)
  • Exposure to NetSuite, Avalara, OMS/WMS integrations
What You'll Do (Skills Used in this Position)
  • Define and compare go-to-market models (Marketplace-led, DTC, Hybrid)
  • Build and deliver a comprehensive acquisition and advertising strategy
  • Develop a 12-week learning/testing agenda, KPI targets, and media budget
  • Evaluate and shortlist e-commerce platforms and marketplace tooling
  • Define and document specifications for dashboards, attribution frameworks, tracking and pixel strategies, and analytics implementation.
  • Collaborate with Creative team to develop performance-optimized content
  • Partner with Tech and Digital Experience on CMS, tagging, and compliance needs
  • Deliver board-ready recommendations and a phased pilot-to-scale roadmap
  • Coordinate operating model and RACI across internal stakeholders (Finance, Tech, Creative, Supply Chain)
Compensation Information

The expected salary range for this position is $7080 CAD per hour or $100,000 - $120,000 CAD annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
