RBI owns four of the world's most prominent and iconic quick service restaurant brands – TIM HORTONS®, BURGER KING®, POPEYES®, and FIREHOUSE SUBS®. These independently operated brands have been serving their respective guests, franchisees and communities for decades. Through its Restaurant Brands for Good framework, RBI is improving sustainable outcomes related to its food, the planet, and people and communities.

RBI is committed to growing the TIM HORTONS®, BURGER KING®, POPEYES® and FIREHOUSE SUBS® brands by leveraging their respective core values, employee and franchisee relationships, and long track records of community support. Each brand benefits from the global scale and shared best practices that come from ownership by Restaurant Brands International Inc.

Our Opportunity

Restaurant Brands International Inc. is one of the world’s largest quick service restaurant companies with over 25,000 restaurants in more than 120 countries. RBI owns three of the world’s most iconic quick service restaurant brands – Tim Hortons®, Burger King®, and Popeyes®.

At RBI, we recognize that our guests no longer only make food decisions based on the food itself, but rather the entire experience surrounding the meal. That experience is becoming increasingly digital. We create innovative products and technologies to deliver digital consumer experiences that enhance guest interactions with our brands.

We’re in the early phases of building the team and are looking for a designer who can work with technical and product leads. The Designer will work on our digital customer experiences – Mobile App, Self-Ordering Kiosk, and Website. In this role, you’ll be working with technical and product leadership to deliver designs that meet business and user goals.

RBI follows a 5 day, in-office work schedule to support collaboration. Candidates should be comfortable working onsite 5 days per week out of our office in Toronto, ON.

Role And Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop designs for the Tim Hortons app, self-ordering kiosks, website, and other current and emerging digital platforms
  • Manage design intake by reviewing and vetting product briefs, clarifying requirements, and providing feedback before beginning design work
  • Take an idea from concept to finished design, including information architecture, user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI as needed
  • Develop information architecture and create wireframes to uncover design challenges and opportunities early in the design process
  • Facilitate and participate in design critiques and working sessions with product, engineering, and other partners to advance the work efficiently and meet development deadlines
  • Work collaboratively with other designers, developers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver designs that meet the needs of our users and digital experiences
  • Ensure design deliverables conform to existing design systems, tokens, patterns, and layout where appropriate to streamline product development and maintain consistency across platforms
  • Identify where user and usability research is needed, and partner with product and insights teams to design the right approach
  • Construct, run, and synthesize usability tests, experiments, and other evaluative research methods to inform design decisions
  • Problem solve and iterate on solutions based on feedback and constraints that may include time and/or technology
Qualifications And Skills
  • 4+ years working as a product designer in enterprise, startup, agency, or equivalent environments (including in-house, consultancy, or freelance), or demonstrably equivalent experience
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of foundational design principles and how they apply to digital experiences
  • Applies user-centric design and experience best practices across platforms and journeys
  • Clearly communicates the rationale for design decisions and influences stakeholders through strong written and verbal communication
  • Sweats the details and treats design as a craft
  • Applies accessibility best practices and standards to design and digital experiences
  • Works with and contributes to design systems, including tokens, components, patterns, and layout-driven applications
  • Comfortably manages multiple projects and platforms with differing deadlines while maintaining quality
  • Plans for iterative design implementation (e.g., MVP products that we improve as we go) and breaks work into clear phases
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and managing time and priorities independently
Tools You Should Be Familiar With
  • Design & Prototyping - Experience with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch - Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects) - Experience with prototyping tools such as InVision, Origami, ProtoPie, Framer
  • Research - Experience with research platforms such as UserZoom, UserTesting, dscout
  • Front-End & Implementation Awareness - Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., HTML/CSS; React is a plus) to collaborate effectively with engineers; this is not a coding role
  • AI & Emerging Tools - Experience using generative AI as a design aid in developing prototypes, interfaces, and assets - Experience using AI to evaluate early design concepts and supplement usability testing to identify areas of improvement
