The Opportunity: Our WSP Contaminated Sites team in the Prairies is growing, and we are adding a Senior Environmental Engineer to serve diverse industrial and government clients across Western Canada, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. You will work with a team of experienced professionals including hydrogeologists, engineers, geochemists, and other technical staff.

What you can expect to do here:
- Lead the design and preparation of specifications for new or expanding landfill projects, including landfill caps and containment systems for ponds and lagoons.
- Supervise construction activities to ensure projects meet design and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and monitor Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs for liner systems.
- Ensure all project materials and installations comply with industry standards.
- Apply expertise in the beneficial use of collected landfill gas to optimize system performance.
- Develop and finalize design drawings and specifications for landfill gas systems.
- Manage and oversee the installation process of landfill gas systems, ensuring adherence to design plans.
- Supervise and mentor a multidisciplinary team of professionals, providing technical guidance and support.
- Ensure all projects comply with environmental regulations and standards.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation for regulatory compliance and client communication.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and land evaluations.
- Develop and implement strategies for waste management and pollution control.
- Collaborate with clients to create innovative and sustainable landfill gas management solutions.
- Stay informed about the latest industry standards, technologies, and best practices.
- Oversee, or assist in the preparation of technical proposals including preparing scopes of works and estimates of costs for professional services.
What you can bring to WSP:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental/Civil/Geological Engineering, or related Engineering disciplines.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the following:
- Design and preparation or supervision of design drawings, specifications for new or expanding landfills, landfill caps, and natural or synthetic containment systems for ponds and lagoons.
- Construction oversight of above projects.
- Field experience in Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs for natural and synthetic liner systems.
- Landfill gas systems including preparation of design drawings and specifications.
- Oversight of installation of landfill gas systems.
- Knowledge of beneficial use of collected landfill gas.
- Strong written and oral skills in English.
- Involvement in and supervision of teams of professionals in this field.
- Registration in or ability to register with APEGA or other provincial jurisdictions.
- A minimum of three references will be requested. Examples of written text may be requested.
