Job description
Overview

Lethbridge Police Service is seeking one or more Police Officers. The City of Lethbridge serves a community of over 100,000 residents and is committed to delivering services in a way that earns the trust, respect and confidence of our community.

The Lethbridge Police Service will be opening a hiring process. To apply, eligible applicants must meet the following requirements and complete the specified steps.

Qualifications
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, or have landed immigrant status or permanent resident status.
  • A Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current, class 5 Driver's license.
  • Less than 5 demerits.
  • Pass the vision and hearing test.
  • Not have any criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted, or any outstanding criminal or internal investigations prior to an offer of employment being made.
Hiring Process and Steps

Police officers will participate in the complete recruiting process and meet the standards set out by the Police Selection and Employment Manual and provincial guidelines for recruiting. The duration of the process is approximately two to three months.

  1. Application
  2. Download the Application Form and Personal Disclosure forms. Complete ALL necessary forms (Hearing & Vision test, APREP Medical Form, etc.) and save them
  3. Qualified candidates are invited to submit their application package online at the external job postings tab to reach the Police Officer Posting
  4. Upload the Application Form, Personal Disclosure Form and supporting documents on your profile
  5. Submit your application
  6. Application packages will be reviewed by recruiting officers prior to APREP testing
  7. APCAT testing can be arranged through the recruiting officer
  8. Completion of the APREP physical abilities testing is a prerequisite for this position; APREP testing will be arranged by the Lethbridge Police Service
  9. Personal Disclosure Interview
  10. After the Personal Disclosure interview, competitive applicants will be contacted for a Personal Disclosure interview
  11. Behavioral Descriptive Interview
  12. Successful candidates will move onto the next stage of the process
  13. Integrity (truth verification Polygraph) and Psychometric testing (Psychological interview) will be scheduled
  14. Security Clearance Check will be conducted
  15. Background check will be conducted
  16. Successful candidate(s) will be selected and offered the position

NOTE: Some costs incidental to the application process may be incurred by the applicant (e.g., costs to obtain a drivers abstract, class 5 License, hearing and vision tests).
