Your Opportunity:
The Planner – Equipment Specialist is a member of the CPSM Lab team which supports all annual replacement, foundation funded and special project procurements of capital equipment for APL. The incumbent positions are responsible for specific zone and/or program area initiatives, under the guidance of the portfolio Manager. The Specialist will work with APL representatives at various levels to support any equipment related questions in their prioritization process as well as leading the procurement of items identified for purchase. The Specialist will participate in both internal and external (vendor) meetings to develop equipment specifications and appropriate procurement strategies for various equipment purchases. This role will also provide support to the capital equipment team which purchases a variety of equipment across the organization.

Description:
The Specialist will be responsible for supporting APL in their annual equipment prioritization process and then lead the procurement initiatives to facilitate the purchases where funding is available. Specialist provides technical expertise for the planning and acquisition of equipment under the annual replacement and/or capital project budgets, donations and other special purpose funding. Through direct interaction with physicians, nurses, architects, engineers, other clinical or professional stakeholders and the equipment planning team, the incumbent will provide leadership and direction in the development of detailed technical, functional and operational device requirements to efficiently and effectively satisfy the identified need while ensuring that HSS procurement processes and procedures are followed. The position is not directly accountable for a budget however must ensure that equipment replacement budget allocation (often millions of dollars annually) is not surpassed without prior approval. Providing guidance and understanding of procurement process and protocols to both internal and external stakeholders. The Specialist must work with various stakeholders to ensure that equipment requirements are met through the appropriate specifications, evaluations, and development of a final purchase recommendation. The Specialist will work with both clinical and non-clinical staff and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders within their designated portfolios. Though the position does not have direct patient/client contact, the equipment purchased for patient/client care must meet all legislative and Health Canada requirements to ensure that patient/client safety is not compromised. The Specialist also provides technical specifications to support competitive bid processes that AHS Procurement Specialists may lead to secure equipment contracts.

Required Qualifications
