Overview

Come join our team in the role of Pioneer Sales Agronomist serving North Central Alberta. The Pioneer Sales Agronomist will target sales activities to Pioneer Agencies to build relationships and drive adoption of Pioneer® brand products through direct grower contact supporting the Corteva portfolio and on-farm agronomic and business decisions. Develop and provide agronomic and product education/training to the field sales force that supports the sales and service of Pioneer products. Work collaboratively with the Agronomy team, Product Life Cycle Manager and Portfolio Manager to conduct Commercial Unit, and regional agronomy field trials that improve the product management and/or product positioning of Pioneer seed products. Partner with Territory Managers (TM’s) and Pioneer Agencies to create and deliver product information which improves the productivity and profitability of Pioneer customers. Serve as primary agronomic resource to TM’s and Pioneer Agencies to resolve difficult customer concerns.

This is a remote position with a requirement to live within the district (Edmonton area preferred). If hired, you will be required to travel as necessary to support business activities.

Responsibilities
What do we expect from you?
Product Evaluation
  • Collect information/notes and observations related to the performance of Pioneer® brand seed products and associated technologies.

  • Provide overall performance evaluations on Pioneer seed products.

  • Coordinate area product evaluation trials with TM’s and Pioneer Agencies.

  • Provide liaison between sales and research.

  • Take part in area crop management projects as appropriate.

  • Prepare product performance summaries for use by the sales and Business Unit (BU) Marketing teams.

Technical/Agronomic/Product Training
  • Work with assigned TM’s to provide support for information and education/training to the Pioneer Agency team on product characteristics, product positioning and crop management practices.

  • Have a working knowledge in areas such as grain end use opportunities, nutrition, forage management, industrial uses of Pioneer® brand products, seed technologies and Corteva product offerings in relation to seed.

  • Train TM’s and Pioneer Agencies on methods to handle service calls to enhance selling activities.

  • Efficiently and effectively transfer technical knowledge to the sales field team by developing materials, references, structured sessions, and providing ongoing bulletins and seminars.

Product Lifecycle Management
  • Represent area in identifying and communicating long-term product needs and short-term product gaps to the BU and Research

  • Represent area in product advancement discussions and decisions.

  • Guide Pioneer Agencies on new product introduction and retirements as it relates to R5 and RC01 positioning when preparing customer Demand Plans

  • Responsible for timely and accurate updates in systems that track advancement decisions and product retirements.

  • Collaborate with Agronomy and Marketing teams to summarize product performance information and create product positioning information and materials.

Sales Support
  • Resolve customer service calls involving product performance and/or agronomic issues.

  • Assist in building strong relationships with local universities and governmental agencies end users, influencers, and other industry representatives.

  • Provide service and information to customers, prospects and farm managers through various methods and mediums (newsletters, customer meetings, service calls and farm calls)

  • Assist with farm calls with Pioneer Agencies as needed.

  • Provide input and/or evaluate TM and Pioneer Agency performance, selection and evaluation in concert with the District Sales Leaders.

  • Coach Pioneer Agencies and TM’s on new products and product choice for existing and prospect customers.

Requirements
What do we need from you?
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in an agronomic field.

  • 2-5 years of Agronomy experience and proven abilities

  • Ability to obtain/demonstrate a clear driving record and background check

  • Demonstrated skills in: selling, negotiating, influencing, and presenting, conflict resolution and handling objections.

  • Demonstrated ability to build/maintain strong relationships with customers, key industry/market influencers, Pioneer & Corteva internal partners and teammates.

  • Work effectively within a team environment.

  • Lead and influence projects and coach individuals in accomplishing defined objectives/goals.

  • Understand the needs and values of partners and customers and develop solutions to satisfy/retain.

  • Generate results by taking initiative, overcoming obstacles & finding creative solutions.

  • Work independently with minimum supervision.

  • Work in and adapt to a rapidly changing business environment.
