Overview

Care Pharmacies is a leading owner and operator of independent pharmacies across Canada. We are committed to delivering exceptional patient care through innovative practices and a people-first culture. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Pharmacy Technician or Experienced Pharmacy Assistant to join our Operations team as the Pharmacy Operations Manager for our Eastern Canada locations. This role reports to the Senior Director of Operations for Eastern Canada. Ideal candidate will be based out of Halifax / Dartmouth and surrounding areas.

Position Summary

The Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of pharmacy departments across our independent banner locations in Eastern Canada. This role is key to fostering a high-performance environment that prioritizes patient care, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and team engagement. You will collaborate with Pharmacy Managers, staff, and support teams to ensure operational excellence and drive continuous improvement across all sites.

Job Type : Full-time, Permanent

Location : Halifax / Dartmouth and surrounding areas, with travel within Nova Scotia and PEI (Must have own vehicle).

Responsibilities
  • Provide full accountability for daily pharmacy operations across multiple locations.
  • Conduct regular store visits to ensure consistent adherence to standards and procedures.
  • Support and implement operational improvements that enhance patient care, workflow, and compliance.
  • Train pharmacy teams on dispensing and billing systems (e.g., Kroll or Propel RX).
  • Troubleshoot operational and technical issues; support with technical verification as needed.
  • Recommend and execute continuous improvement initiatives using best practices.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead change management initiatives and drive a performance-based culture.
  • Foster teamwork, open communication, and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Clearly communicate company vision, goals, and strategic direction to all staff.
  • Support performance reviews, wage assessments, and staff development efforts.
  • Assist in hiring across all pharmacy roles and assess staffing needs in partnership with managers.
  • Uphold company policies and handle corrective actions when necessary.
  • Partner with front-store teams and internal departments to enhance the overall patient experience.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Pharmacy Managers, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to new store openings, special projects, and pharmacy integration initiatives.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in pharmacy operations management, or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in pharmacy software systems (e.g., Kroll) is required
  • Experience with pharmacy automation technologies such as PacMed / VBM is a strong asset
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building experience
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, regulated, and multi-site environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Nova Scotia and PEI
  • Own vehicle required
  • Self-starter with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
