Position Summary

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for all day‑to‑day activities affecting the people, operations, and merchandise in their division. The Pharmacy Manager must also ensure that the Pharmacy operates according to Walmart policy, professional standards, and provincial and federal regulations.

What you’ll do

Lead the Pharmacy and OTC teams, including participation in the recruitment and interviewing of candidates, train all associates on OBWs/SOPs and Walmart workflow and ensures their execution. Develop, assess, motivate and retain team members. Promote Walmart’s brand to team members and customers. Develop a functional and collaborative relationship with the Prof Services District Manager and the Store Management team.

Operate the Pharmacy to achieve established plans and budgets. Schedule associates efficiently, conduct ongoing assessment and periodic performance reviews, and develop/executive business action plans to meet corporate goals. Create corrective action plans based on deficiencies identified in reports (P&L, FSA visits, POAs, etc.) or audits and DM visits.

Maintain accurate inventories in the Pharmacy by following Walmart OBWs/SOPs (e.g., receiving, inventory management, disposal of expired products). Address all customer complaints and resolve problems to ensure an excellent customer experience. Maintain the Pharmacy’s professional image as per Workstation Standardization and the 6S Audit. Cascade communications from the SSC to all Pharmacy associates and OTC.

Execute all programs assigned to the Pharmacy by the Prof Services team.

Establish and develop collaborative relationships with other health‑care providers within the store (clinics, Vision Centre, etc.). Ensure the Pharmacy is open and operational during posted business hours. Supervise and support the OTC manager in everyday duties and responsibilities. Ensure an excellent patient experience and locate merchandise on the sales floor.

Establish and develop a strong working relationship with Professional Services District Managers and other stakeholders.

Accept prescriptions and/or refill requests from customers, doctors, or hospitals. Ensure prescriptions are filled accurately, efficiently, and safely using established workflow models and counsel all patients on sold pharmaceutical products.

Ensure proper storage of pharmaceutical products and execute processes as per OBWs/SOPs. Operate all equipment in the pharmacy (register, computer system, etc.), protect patient privacy at all times, and follow provincial regulations. Ensure patients receive all eligible services they are entitled to (medication reviews, injections, etc.) to meet specific patient needs.

The pay range for this position is $57.60 - $77.40/hr. Rate of pay will be determined based on relevant experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensing – Pharmacist License (secondary optional permit in Alberta: CA_APA – Additional Prescribing Authorization)
