Epic Pharmacy is an independent, patient-focused pharmacy grounded in trust, autonomy, and community health. Located on the west coast of Vancouver Island, we serve a diverse rural population and partner with Indigenous communities. We’re seeking a Pharmacy Manager or Staff Pharmacist to join our care-driven, values-based team.

Role Highlights
- Pharmacy Manager: $65–$75/hour; Pharmacist: $60–$70/hour (negotiation based on experience)
- $10,000 or $5,000 recruitment bonus based on position (12-month return-of-service agreement)

Duties and Responsibilities
The below represents the general details associated with the principal functions of the position and should not be construed as a detailed job description. The incumbent may be required to perform other duties as assigned. All duties must be carried out in accordance with pharmacy legislation and internal patient care/customer service policies and procedures.
Pharmaceutical Distribution
- Maintain a safe and productive work environment through compliance with quality control policies and procedures for patients and staff
- Provide and supervise excellent professional service to all patients/customers to support safe patient care
- Create and maintain complete patient profiles (medications, medical conditions, history, allergies, and documentation of patient care activities)
- Perform, supervise, and review drug preparation and distribution activities per policies and procedures (scanning, counselling areas, in/out areas, wait times)
- Address issues identified with prescriptions, patient care, and services within appropriate timeframes
- Verify completed prescriptions for accuracy and ensure pharmacist verification of personally filled prescriptions
- Process prescription adjudication and sales using pharmacy software and POS systems
- Ensure prescriptions are verified for appropriateness of therapy before release (including technician checks)
- Provide patient counselling on prescription and non-prescription medications in accordance with practice standards
- Document patient care activities, including prescription processing and counselling
- Manage situations involving drug diversion or inappropriate use
- Adhere to quality assurance policies for job performance management and narcotics/controlled substances handling
- Understand and follow medication and patient care incident protocols, including near misses
- Manage pharmacy workflow from start to finish, including scanning, packaging, and counselling areas
- Inventory management including narcotics and controlled drug management and disposal
Professional Services
- Provide and supervise excellent professional service to meet patients’ drug-related needs and improve outcomes
- Work with patients and other health care providers to deliver pharmacy services
- Explain healthcare benefits, logistics, and costs to customers/patients
- Proactively inform patients of services/programs offered
- Educate patients and provide drug information to promote health
- Document services rendered and outcomes achieved
- Act as a Pharmasave ambassador through programs including clinics and community seminars
- Build professional relationships with patients, customers, other health care providers, and industry members
Administration and Management
- Lead and manage the Pharmacy team, including recruiting, training, performance management, and conflict resolution
- Ensure compliance with provincial standards and college regulations
- Create and monitor dispensary shift schedules
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of patient information
- Maintain inventory for patient care and efficient operations
- Monitor and remove expired medications in accordance with provincial law
- Conduct inventory spot checks and manage out-of-stocks per store policies
- Comply with regulations to secure narcotics and store assets
- Keep patient care areas clean, tidy, and organized
- Ensure supplies are checked, restocked, and ordered as needed
- Organize health information resources and ensure they are updated to support care and programs
- Review pharmacy communications from Pharmasave, regulators, and industry bodies
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Personal Requirements
- Proof of current pharmacist licensure in good standing with the provincial College
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Professional attitude and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, suppliers, and others in the healthcare community
- Completion of any applicable Pharmacy Manager training as required by the provincial College
- Ability to meet all eligibility requirements to assume the role of Pharmacy Manager as set by the provincial College
- Strong leadership and communication skills
Working Conditions
- Standing for up to 8 hours a day
- Lifting/moving up to 30 lbs
- Climbing a ladder may be required
