Hours of work
The successful candidates must be available to work a minimum of two different types of shifts (days and evenings or days and nights or a combination of all three). Shift hours are 7:00am to 3:00pm, 3pm to 11pm, and 11pm to 7:00am.
Rate of Pay
$20.82 per hour plus an additional $3 per hour PSW premium.

How You Will Make an Impact
The successful applicant will provide personal care and home support services to clients living independently in the community.
- Provide service in a person‑centered, dignified, culturally competent and respectful manner that reflects the charism of Good Shepherd and an integrated anti‑racism/anti‑oppression framework.
- Assist clients with routine activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living such as:
- housekeeping and laundry
- personal care including bathing and showering
- toileting assistance including incontinence care
- transfers according to the plan of care; supervised, one‑person assist, two‑person assist and two‑person mechanical lift according to the client’s care plan, program policies and practices and within scope of practice of a PSW
- Support clients while attending external appointments including accompaniment.
- Must be able to work across multiple locations within the city based on assigned schedule which may require walking up to 25 minutes from the hub location to the client's residence, walking up and down stairs in all seasons.
- Monitor the safety of the clients such as:
- encourage clients to use all required assistive aids, mobility aids including walkers and canes
- medication reminders and documentation
- respond to clients’ calls for assistance for unscheduled support 24 hours per day while on duty
- encourage clients to use hearing aids, glasses, Lifeline necklaces/bracelets and other aids being used
- Perform light housekeeping tasks and other instrumental activities of daily living including going to store for small grocery needs, providing laundry service, washing, drying, folding and putting away of laundry, hand washing of delicate items, tidying of bedroom and bathroom, changing bed linens, meal prep.
- Assess and report any hazards or safety concerns to Program Manager or designate.
- Electronic documentation is required so an understanding of computers and data entry is required.
- Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
- Personal Support Worker Certificate in good standing and currently authorized to practice in the Province of Ontario.
- Minimum of 1 year’s practical experience (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to work with adults with diverse and complex health and psycho‑social needs.
- A demonstrated ability to work as an effective, responsive and accountable team member.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently in client homes and community settings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Committed to anti‑racist/anti‑oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd.
- Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset.
