Penetration Tester (IT Specialist I-IV)

As part of the Cybersecurity team, the Penetration Tester (IT Specialist I-IV) is responsible for technical analysis of internal and external systems and networks, evaluating and reporting on identified risks to NB Power, coordinating third-party penetration tests, supporting efforts to close vulnerabilities identified, and contributing to internal and external compliance activities.

Responsibilities
  • Protection and Defence – responsible for vulnerability analysis, defensive cybersecurity, digital forensics incident response, as well as infrastructure support.
  • Design and Development Support – responsible for conducting software security assessments, systems testing and evaluation, technology, research and development.
  • Investigations – responsible for digital evidence analysis and cybercrime investigation.
Qualifications and experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Advanced Systems Management, Information Systems Security or Internetworking. Those with a Diploma will require an additional two years of related experience.
  • Technical certifications in penetration testing with a hands-on component, would be considered an asset (e.g., Offensive Security or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) certifications).
  • One year of experience in penetration testing with experience in at least two of the following:
  • Attack maps (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain)
  • Exploit analysis
  • Exploit development
  • Reverse engineering / malware analysis
  • Experience in an Operational Technology (OT) environment would be considered an asset

An equivalent combination of training, certifications and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Criminal Record Name Check.

An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
