Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Clinical Administrative Dietician, the Cook will prepare meals, including therapeutic diets and texture modifications, in accordance with Public Health and Ministry guidelines for 172 residents daily.
  • Maintain required food temperature and quality documentation.
  • Follow posted menu production sheets to prepare for the next meal service.
  • Complete equipment maintenance and cleaning as needed.
  • In the absence of the Clinical Administrative Dietician or the Nutrition Services Co‑ordinator be responsible for checking and receiving goods.
  • Must be available to replace staff for call‑in shifts on short notice on weekends and stats.
  • Support the care team in providing safe resident‑centered care within the scope of practice.
  • Support and embrace a resident‑centred social culture.
  • Participate and support the City of Timmins Continuous Improvement Program to foster a culture of operational excellence.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Grade 12 education required.
  • A chef training or culinary management diploma or certificate is an asset.
  • Experience in quantity and institutional cooking an asset.
  • Successful completion of Food Handler Training.
  • Ability to adhere to department policies and procedures, including sanitation safety, Quality Assurance and Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Knowledge of safe operation of dietary equipment required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of regular and therapeutic diets and standardized recipes.
  • Current and clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening required.
  • WHMIS Certificate required.
  • Satisfactory documented attendance record.
  • Ability to adhere to all infection prevention and control protocols and screening requirements.
