Job description

We are looking for awesome, self-driven Personal Support Workers to work throughout Durham Region. Please note, we are only looking to proceed with candidates who have part-time WEEKEND availability and meet the scheduling requirements below.

Scheduling Requirements
  • Full-Time & Part-Time Positions available: PSW must be available for 12-hour shifts particularly on Saturdays AND Sundays
  • MUST be available Saturday and Sunday, flexibility for day, evening, and overnight shifts preferred
  • MUST be able to commit to a consistent, ongoing, weekly schedule for the foreseeable future
  • available and willing to see multiple clients throughout the day
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care to clients as outlined in their care plans
  • Provide companionship and light housekeeping (whatever it takes to help a person stay at home)
  • Prepare meals in accordance to the client and/or the family's request (must be open to preparing different kinds of cuisine).
  • Adhere to providing personal care and help clients with their ADLs that is within the scope of practice for a Personal Support Worker
  • Assists clients in all activities of daily living/hygiene assistance, bathing, grooming, linen changes and so forth
  • Assists clients with transfers, ambulation and exercises
  • Meets the safety needs of the client and uses equipment safely and properly
  • Functions within the limits of own experience and knowledge, and practices safely and competently within the job description
  • Completes records and documentations accurately and thoroughly
Requirements
  • MUST have a valid driver's license and reliable access to a car that can be used for daily work
  • Ability to travel between assignments within designated areas of work, an asset if you can travel to rural/remote areas
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
  • PSW certification from an approved and recognized educational institution or International nursing/ doctorate Certification
  • Negative TB Test completed within the last year
  • Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate
  • Valid WHMIS2015 Certificate of Completion
  • COVID Vaccination Receipts subject to an exemption pursuant to Ontario's Human Rights Code
  • Immunization for measles, rubella, varicella, tetanus, and Diphtheria REQUIRED, immunization of Hepatitis B is strongly urged
  • Valid Criminal Record Check - must be completed within the last year
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
  • Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Coordinators when needed
  • Requires good judgement, the ability to work independently, and work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team
  • Current/Valid Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) Registration an asset
