A local municipality in Metro Vancouver is seeking a Parks Janitor to perform light manual work in cleaning and maintaining park buildings. This regular full-time role includes assisting patrons during events and performing repetitive cleaning tasks. Candidates should have a high school diploma and some custodial work experience. Knowledge of janitorial methods and a valid driver's license may be required. The role offers a competitive salary of $4,748 – $5,560/month in a supportive work environment.

Schedule: 40 hours weekly; Monday to Friday 4:30 PM – 12:30 AM

This position works in the FM Custodial Mobile organizational unit. Light manual work in cleaning and care of various park buildings and premises. Routine attendant tasks in rendering assistance and services to patrons during scheduled events in municipal recreation centres or other park buildings, as well as performing a variety of repetitive cleaning, minor maintenance and/or building service tasks. Work performed under general supervision and evaluated on the basis of adherence to instructions and work standards. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include up to high school graduation with some related experience in janitorial or custodial work or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Sound knowledge of standard methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial care and maintenance of buildings. Working knowledge of general regulations and procedures governing facility operations. Ability to perform light manual work. Skill in use of a variety of tools used in the work. Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia (some positions) is required. Police Information Check may be required.
Clause 6 Application of Seniority: Appointments to regular full time, temporary full time, regular part time and temporary part time positions shall be determined by seniority as defined by the greatest length of service in the specific posted job. These appointments shall be subject to successful passing of the skill test(s) applicable to the classification, not currently subject to a performance management plan, and have no discipline or recorded safety infractions in the previous eighteen (18) months.
