Overview

Parks Canada, Jasper National Park, Alberta — AR-03 term position (2 years). Salary: $93,697 to $109,478 per year. Location: Jasper, AB. Work schedule may include weekends and holidays as required. Duties
  • These exciting positions will play a key role in helping Jasper rebuild following the impacts of the 2024 Jasper Wildfire Complex. The successful candidate will work with park staff, stakeholders, and colleagues from other levels of government to work on land use policy and process improvements to support Jasper’s recovery. The position will also support development review within and outside of the Jasper townsite.

  • This process will fill two 2-year term positions. Remote work will be considered. Housing will not be provided.

Essential qualifications
  • Education: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in urban planning, rural planning, community planning or other relevant specialty. Degree equivalency.
  • Experience: Experience in managing planning projects and multidisciplinary planning teams in order to achieve results in an efficient manner. Experience in preparing and interpreting planning documents such as plans, policies, or reports. Experience in developing and/or conducting public and/or Indigenous engagement programs in support of planning programs. Experience building effective relationships with stakeholders.

Conditions of employment
  • Reliability Status security clearance - You are required to obtain and maintain this security level throughout this employment at Parks Canada Agency.
  • You will be required to work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays as scheduled by your delegated manager. Compensation will be as prescribed in the Terms and Conditions of Employment applicable to you.
  • You will be required to wear a uniform while performing your duties. Parks Canada will provide the required uniforms in accordance with the Parks Canada Uniform Policy.
  • Willingness to relocate to Jasper or to travel periodically to Jasper.
