Duties

This position provides a full range of executive services and support to the Field Unit Superintendent. The primary responsibility is to effectively manage the office. Given the nature of this work, we seek an individual who can accurately and professionally manage changing priorities and sensitive situations. Abilities sought include attention to detail, sound judgment, discretion, computer competency, and effective interpersonal skills. Other duties include communicating with field unit managers and team members, National Office colleagues, stakeholders and the public; scheduling meetings; making travel arrangements; and the preparation and handling of sensitive documents, files and dockets.

Work environment and process

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s natural and cultural resources through national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites across Canada.

Essential qualifications
  • Successful completion of secondary school according to provincial standards or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
  • Degree equivalency
  • Significant experience providing administrative support services
  • Significant experience analyzing, processing, and preparing correspondence to internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Experience maintaining, tracking and managing files, records and correspondence.

Asset experience

Experience coordinating administration activities and/or office management; Experience in information management and/or central records in the federal government; Experience providing financial administration support to a manager, such as procurement, budget monitoring and reporting, and expense claims; Experience providing administrative support to an executive or manager such as time management, travel arrangements, meeting minutes, and file management.
