A prominent landlord in Canada is seeking a Paralegal to manage legal matters related to residents. This role includes preparing legal documents for the Landlord and Tenant Board, attending weekly meetings with management, and representing the landlord at hearings. Ideal candidates should maintain their Law Society License and have 2-3 years of office experience. Proficiency in Word and Excel is required, while knowledge of landlord-tenant law is a strong asset. Competitive income and benefits are provided.
Founded in Kingston in 1954, Homestead Land Holdings Limited has grown to become one of Canada’s largest and most respected landlords. The founding principles of the company are still in place today, which are to provide residents with affordable, secure housing with a standard of care in which we would treat our own family members.
The Paralegal will work in conjunction with management in an advisory role regarding legal matters with residents. They will deal with a combination of arrears of rent collections, knowledge of representation at the Landlord Tenant Board and Small Claims Court regarding matters relating to resident disputes and social issues, and a Monday to Friday weekly schedule that includes four days in our branch office and one day working from home.
We are an equal opportunity employer offering competitive income & benefits as well as opportunities for professional and personal growth. Accessibility accommodations are available for all parts of the recruitment and selection process. Please make needs known in advance. We thank all candidates for their interest, however only those being considered will be contacted directly.
A satisfactory reference check, and criminal records clearance are required for the position.
