Overview

Position Summary :

The Operating Room RN with cardiac training provides specialized perioperative care to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures. This role involves working in a high-acuity, fast-paced surgical environment, supporting complex cardiac cases including open-heart surgeries, vascular procedures, and interventional cardiology.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain a sterile operating environment for cardiac procedures.
  • Assist surgeons during cardiovascular operations, including bypass, valve replacement, and thoracic surgeries.
  • Monitor patient status intraoperatively and respond to changes in condition.
  • Administer medications and manage anesthesia support in collaboration with anesthesiologists.
  • Ensure proper handling and usage of specialized cardiac surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including perfusionists, surgical techs, and cardiologists.
  • Document surgical procedures and patient responses accurately.
  • Participate in post-operative care planning and patient handover to recovery units.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
Qualifications

Specialty training : Cardiac scrub and circulating experience. Operating Room-Open Heart / Cardiovascular Intensive Care with Balloon Pump certification. Orientation: a few days. Shifts: D, E, and on call.
