Come be part of the Upstream Production Operations Department of ExxonMobil Canada Energy. Our offices are located on the East Coast of Canada in St. John’s, Newfoundland with a workforce of nearly 250 people and two world class offshore production assets.

What role you will play in our team

ExxonMobil is currently recruiting for Operations Technicians with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. The position is located offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, and will require you to travel offshore via helicopter or supply vessel.

What you will do

As an Operations Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Understanding and abiding by all safety rules and standards, reporting hazards, and holding responsibility for your role in the safe operation of the platform.
  • Understanding and abiding by all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensuring that Operations achieve sustained reliability while eliminating safety, health, and environmental incidents.
  • Providing technical and operational expertise within platform operations to achieve specific safety and production goals.
  • Operation & surveillance of oil & gas process equipment.
  • Handling normal and upset process conditions and emergency situations.
  • Contributing to EMC Operations & Maintenance strategy through execution of Operations PMs and submission of maintenance notifications as required.
About you

Skills and Qualifications

  • Process / Chemical Technologist qualification or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Broad working knowledge of well equipment, separation, gas compression and power generation systems
  • Working knowledge of the Distributed Control System (DCS), Emergency Control System (ECS), and Fire & Gas System (FGS) would be considered a strong asset.
  • Working knowledge of safety practices common to the industry.

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

  • Previous related industry experience will be considered as an asset.
  • If you have graduated from college within the last 3 years, a copy of your final, unofficial transcript must be included with your application.
