Qualifications

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to lead, manage and improve the production process at our Industrial Laundry site in Durham, supporting the site improvement, vision and business plan.

You will work closely with the Engineering, Service and Logistics teams, continuously improving the site overall effectiveness, ensuring utilisation of production facilities, people development/engagement and a lean culture.

You will ensure that the site operates in line with all legal requirements, which include Health & Safety and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements.

Your Mission at Elis
  • You will ensure that the company’s vision, values, policies and procedures are always adhered to, to deliver “best practice” within the Production and Engineering operations at site.
  • Develop, propose and agree functional budgets with the General Manager (GM), monitoring, managing and controlling all activities in accordance with the agreed functional budget, investigating and resolving any variances to agreed targets. You will also work closely with the GM to develop strategic plans for all operational activity and capital requests.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and requirements, analysing the results and ensuring corrective action is implemented to continuously improve the working environment.
  • Generate and analyse reports/ KPIs making recommendations on trends, improvements and corrective actions to achieve and enhance operational excellence.
  • Run continuous improvement discussions and quality circles to investigate and analyse all production related issues and to ensure ongoing continuous improvement.
  • Lead, manage and develop all employees (including SOM, absence, performance management, grievances and Health and Safety Training) using SMART objectives during regular review and feedback meetings.
  • Effectively plan, organise and coordinate resources to meet the production and stores requirements of laundering pieces/ service delivery to achieve on time in full (OTIF) to the specifications within the client contracts.
What will make you stand out?
  • An excellent communicator with direct people management experience, who will listen to and influence peer group and department team members to build and lead effective working teams. Previous experience leading, motivating and recruiting a high-performance team/ recognising new talent is essential.
  • Good IT skills (email, all MS Office software including Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to analyse data and interpret the information effectively to continuously improve the department and team.
  • Experience Lean (Six Sigma) methodologies.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent and/or a proven track record from a lean manufacturing/ process industry.
  • Ability to plan, organise and implement through teamwork and delegation.
  • You must be flexible with regards to hours worked.
  • Proactive customer focussed approach to service delivery.
