ABOUT ITE CANADA

ITE Canada District (ITE Canada) is a not-for-profit professional association representing transportation professionals doing planning, design, and operations of transportation systems across Canada. We provide opportunities for professional development and community building at a regional level through conferences, training, and involvement in projects and products advancing knowledge in the industry. We also support Sections and Student Chapters that offer learning and networking opportunities to members at a local level. ITE Canada’s day-to-day activities are overseen by a volunteer Executive Committee of six with two staff members, including this position, supporting our operations.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

ITE Canada is seeking an Operations & Communications Associate to support our organization’s communications, services, and program operations. This role is well suited to graduate students and early career professionals in transportation as well as individuals with backgrounds in communications, marketing, or business administration who are seeking meaningful, flexible, part-time work.

A key component of this role is supporting ITE Canada programs and events using online platforms and management systems. The successful candidate must be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a small team environment and be comfortable navigating software tools, responding to public/member inquiries, and problem-solving in a digital and remote environment.

What You’ll Do

This role works closely with and reports to the District Operations Lead to support ITE Canada’s communications, operations, and programs:

  • Communications & Digital Presence: Help manage ITE Canada’s social media, email communications, visual materials, and website content to keep members informed and engaged.
  • Programs, Events & Systems Support: Assist with the delivery of ITE Canada programs such as the Annual Conference and training initiatives, including working within our conference and event management systems (Pheedloop and WordPress) to support registrations, speakers, schedules, sponsors, and exhibitors. Respond to inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and help keep information accurate and up to date across platforms.
  • Operations & Volunteer Support: Provide coordination and administrative support to ITE Canada’s Executive Committee, District Operations Lead, volunteers, and Section leaders to support smooth day-to-day operations.
ABOUT YOU

You’re organized, curious, and not intimidated by new technology. You’re comfortable clicking around unfamiliar systems, figuring things out, and helping others when questions come up. You enjoy combining communications, digital tools, and coordination work, and you’re interested in how professional organizations support large programs and events.

Program and Operational Support
  • Experience working with WordPress or similar website content management systems
  • A high degree of comfort using and collaborating with Google Workspace tools (email, calendar, docs, sheets, etc.) or similar office productivity software
  • Willingness to learn new systems and troubleshoot issues independently
  • Comfort working in online platforms and administrative dashboards, even when they are complex or not highly intuitive
Organization & Professional Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities and manage your own time
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening skills in English and professional demeanour
