Job Overview
Lead and coordinate assigned project(s) within multidiscipline project portfolios, ensuring effective organization, documentation, and governance adherence. Lead matrix project teams and oversee project lifecycle from initiation to closeout.
Job Duties
- Organize, coordinate, and control all project management stages in accordance with governance, from initiation to closeout.
- Utilize approved project management processes for scope, schedule, cost, risk, and communication management.
- Manage project activities throughout their lifecycle, ensuring safety, quality, budget, and schedule targets are met.
- Contribute to project background documentation, scope reviews, business case preparations, and funding approvals.
- Review and develop project charters, work scopes, estimates, schedules, risk management plans, and contractual specifications.
- Develop cost and schedule control structures, gather stakeholder input, and coordinate necessary approvals.
- Define labor requirements, coordinate design clarifications, and participate in procurement processes.
- Lead meetings with designers, suppliers, and contractors; monitor project progress and manage changes.
- Resolve issues to ensure project deliverables; manage scope, schedule, and cost changes.
- Oversee contract management processes; coordinate roles and ensure communication among teams.
- Maintain stakeholder communication, facilitate meetings, and prepare project turnover documentation.
- Visit project sites and suppliers; observe and report on manufacturing and installation progress.
- Stay informed of technological and industry advancements; communicate best practices.
Qualifications
Education
- Knowledge of project management principles across all phases.
- Understanding of economics and business principles for cost estimation and forecasting.
- Typically requires a 4-year university degree in a relevant field plus post-secondary courses in project management and economics or equivalent experience.
Experience and Skills
- Experience in project development, planning, bidding, execution, and closeout.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and complex projects in heavy industry or generating stations.
- Knowledge of cost accounting, contracting, construction standards, and safety regulations.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and tight schedules.
