A regional health authority is looking for a part-time occupational therapist in Cranbrook to support young adults experiencing first episode psychosis. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Occupational Therapy and experience with client support in a community setting. Travel within the East Kootenay region is required.
Cranbrook’s Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) Services team has an occupational therapist relief, part time (0.69 FTE) opening. Days of work are week one Monday to Thursday; week two Monday to Wednesday. This is a position to provide coverage until May 2027, or return of incumbent.
Our EPI services model of care values a team based‑care approach consisting of a multidisciplinary team of professionals who work together to provide assessment of services, develop and deliver intervention, support treatment and nominate treatment progress for people, and their families, experiencing first episode psychosis or at risk of experience it.
The occupational therapist sees clients within the age group of 18 to 30 years. The four main care plan targets include: social, functional, vocational/academic, and cognitive needs. The occupational therapist will support the young adult in assessing their abilities in these domains and setting up programs to support or enhance their client’s abilities in these areas. Clients are often seen in their homes or in venues of preference to the client. The occupational therapist may be involved with teaching clients one to one or in groups.
Travel within the East Kootenay region will be necessary and holding a valid driver’s license is a requirement. Access to a personal vehicle may be required.
