Job summary

A long-term care facility in Gore Bay, Ontario, is searching for a qualified and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to provide professional services on a contract basis. This role is ideal for self-employed health care professionals experienced in geriatrics or chronic disease management. The NP will collaborate with an interprofessional team, manage complex health needs, and ensure high-quality patient care. Job description

St. Joseph’s Lodge of Manitoulin is seeking a qualified and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide professional services on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a self‑employed health care professional experienced in geriatrics or chronic disease management to collaborate with our interprofessional team in a long‑term care setting.

Scope of Services
  • Provide comprehensive clinical assessments and develop individualized care plans for residents with complex health needs.
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions within the NP scope of practice and applicable legislation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, staff, residents, families, and community partners to support quality resident care.
  • Participate in resident admissions reviews, risk‑related issues, and interprofessional care planning.
  • Liaise with hospitals and other health system stakeholders on behalf of the Lodge, as required.
  • Support the team through education, clinical consultation, and quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain complete and timely documentation consistent with regulatory and best practice standards.
Qualifications
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Nurse Practitioner (Extended Class).
  • Experience working in geriatrics and/or with adult clients with chronic conditions is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with interprofessional teams.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Professional liability insurance coverage suitable for independent practice.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset, though not required.
Contract Terms

The Contractor must:

  • Operate as an independent practitioner and invoice for services rendered.
  • Provide their own insurance, including liability and WSIB (or equivalent).
  • Be responsible for all taxes, benefits, and licensing obligations.

This is a fee-for-service engagement.
