Job summary

A healthcare organization in Manitoba is seeking an experienced Nurse Educator for the Interfacility Patient Transport role. Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview
Experience
  • Must have a minimum of four years of recent relevant critical care nursing experience with demonstrated competency in a defined area of clinical nursing practice.
  • Previous supervisory experience and teaching, education and program development and evaluation is preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Certificate or certification in Intensive Care Nursing preferred.
  • Competency with word processing and presentation programs, required.
  • Certification as an instructor in a specialty training course Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required, Basic Life Support (BLS) required, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Must be registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor status required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor status preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider status required.
  • Canadian Aerospace Medical and Aeromedical Transport Association (CAMATA) training required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) at the Health Care Provider Level instructor status required.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or PHTLS or ATLS from an accredited training provider.
  • Valid Class V Manitoba Driver’s License.
  • Valid passport with no international restrictions.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in complex situations.
  • Evidence of knowledge of the principles of adult learning and teaching strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to function creatively and independently.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
  • Meets all the requirements of a Transport Nurse Clinician.
  • Knowledge and experience in aeromedical transport.
  • Experience using the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS).
  • Experience with high fidelity simulation in clinical learning, orientation and competency maintenance.
  • Initiates and supports change.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
