Job description
ABOUT THE ROLE

The Network Architect II role will be responsible for providing strong technical leadership in the planning, design and implementation of network infrastructure and services nationally across Hut 8.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop detailed network designs for on‑premises data (LAN, WAN, Data Center) and Network Security.
  • Configure Layer 2 switching (VLANs, STP, vPC, LACP), Layer 3 routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), Network Security (ACLs, NATs, IPsec VPNs, SSL remote access VPNs), and QoS.
  • Create methods of procedure to implement MPLS routers, Ethernet switches, routers.
  • Participate in new product/service development and provide recommendations.
  • Monitor changes in technology and make assessments on the Hut 8 network.
  • Provide network project scope, drawings, configuration, MOP and other related documents; drive execution of engineering initiatives collaboratively with project managers and customers.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough understanding of service provider IP/MPLS network standards and technologies (MPLS, VPLS, IS‑IS, OSPF, BGP, IPv6, STP, QoS, VoIP, cloud, optical networking).
  • Proven experience planning and deploying an IP carrier‑grade infrastructure.
  • CCNP is preferred.
  • Experience with network‑oriented automation and tools (Python, NETCONF/YANG models).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in lab and production networks.
  • Excellent analytical, project management, reporting, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Self‑motivated, driven, adaptable and strong team player.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
