Overview

MPI Project Manager / Product Engineer - Defense - Onsite Position

We have a great opportunity for a MPI Project Manager / Product Engineer to join our world-class facility in Ottawa, ON. The Ottawa business unit brings to market innovative ruggedized single board embedded computer products. In this role you will provide process assurance in the product development process from concept to production status.

You are or have recently been a designer working in a phase-gate development process. You have a desire to move into a Process Assurance role that allows you to use your experience to help others meet business needs while adhering to quality requirements.

Your Challenge
  • Represent process assurance in the product development process, ensuring process compliance at each phase of the development and signing off on gate progression.
  • Perform product monitoring activities post production release and lead product investigations and yield improvement initiatives.
  • Work with Engineering and Operations to identify opportunities for improvement in the design process and drive changes to optimize time to market, gross margin, and product quality.
  • Work with Engineering and Operations to determine the readiness of newly designed products for release into production.
  • Monitor the assembly and test process of newly designed products to identify and close off any required corrective actions needed for manufacturing readiness.
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure engineering builds meet development schedules.
What You Bring
  • You have worked in the design and development of PCBA products utilizing a phase-gate process. Examples of products include single board computers, graphic processor units, ethernet switching, fileserver motherboards.
  • You know how printed circuit board assembly products are made. Industries with this knowledge include telecom, computers, contract manufacturers, aerospace, mobile devices.
  • You are familiar with related standards and specifications such as J-STD-001, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610 Rev D Class 3, IPC / WHMA-A-620, IPC-7711 / 7721.
  • You know how PCBs are designed utilizing standard and high-speed materials. Familiar with microvias, buried vias, impedance control, back drilling, multi-lam stackups.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills.
  • You have an engineering degree or equivalent experience in an engineering design and manufacturing environment dealing with PCB and PCBAs.
What would be nice for you to have
  • Project Management skills
  • Solid understanding of Configuration Management (CM), BOM, data and software structures.
  • Experience with Agile PLM, SAP or another MRP.
  • Experience working in cross functional remote teams in multi-site environments.
  • 7-10 years of experience in an electronics design and/or manufacturing company.
