Job description
Overview

The Opportunity

Canadian Natural is seeking a Millwright Mechanical Maintenance Technician to demonstrate and develop a highly valuable skill set. The position involves troubleshooting, cleaning, inspection, and overhaul of rotating equipment during scheduled maintenance as well as emergency break-in work to ensure the facility operates in a safe and reliable manner. Your knowledge and experience in troubleshooting rotating equipment will be an asset as you work alongside operations and other trades in the field.

  • Job Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta - Horizon Oil Sands site
  • Shift schedule: 7 x 7, 12-hour shift (Thursday start)
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities
  • Perform hands-on work based on the criticality and availability of equipment, including troubleshooting, repairing and overhauling pumps, compressors, turbines, fans and blowers while ensuring integrity of equipment
  • Take proactive measures to address improvement opportunities using a continuous improvement mindset
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance to operations in the field, identify recurring problems and document them to provide an engineered solution
  • Ensure that work is adequately documented in the CMMS (Maximo) and provide a daily report of relevant activities
  • Willingness to coordinate activities with the mechanical maintenance contractor during outages, ensuring that all relevant procedures are followed and work is completed on schedule
What You Bring To The Role
  • Typically, 5+ years of demonstrated industry maintenance experience working within heavy oil and/or oil sands environment
  • Alberta Journeyman or Inter Provincial Red Seal Industrial Millwright trades certificate
  • Strong mechanical aptitude on a variety of mechanical equipment including single and multi-stage pumps and seal systems, blowers and fans, turbines, compressors and gear boxes
  • Experience with precision measurement tools
