Middleware Engineer (Production support)

12 months contract

Montreal, QC (Hybrid 3 days onsite)

Business Overview:

IT Production Middleware provides full life cycle support of several Middleware infrastructures for client. These infrastructures run state of the art third party software which are installed, configured, maintained and administered by the Middleware group members. Some of the technologies that Middleware is responsible for are MQ, WebSphere (WAS), Axway Enterprise File Transfer, Kubernetes, Kafka and Monitoring for each infrastructure. In addition to the Change-the-Bank activities, the Middleware team provides a critical Run-the-Bank role for Payments, Trading, Front Office and Back Office applications spread across all business lines of Corporate Banking and Global Markets. The Middleware platform is constantly evolving to keep pace with the changes in technology, client’s activity and processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide 24/7 and (when necessary) weekend support for systems involved in the architecture.
  • Function as Web Technology Expert on IBM WebSphere, Apache HTTP/Tomcat, JBOSS EAP, WebLogic and IIS.
  • Expertise working on Linux/Windows and Bash/PowerShell scripting.
  • Design, Install/upgrade/configure and support all the Web Technologies.
  • Perform WAS deployment, administration and production support on heterogeneous systems like AIX, Linux and Windows environments with different versions of WebSphere Application Server.
  • Create and configure profiles, clusters, nodes, node agents for WebSphere Application Server.
  • Implement the Workload Management using clustering. Perform tuning, security, backup, recovery and upgrades of WebSphere Application Server on IBM AIX, Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Configure WebSphere Recourses like JDBC Providers and JMS providers. Implement Global Security, SSL and LDAP.
  • Perform Tomcat deployments, administration and production support on heterogeneous systems
  • Identify operational and infrastructure risks within the environment and work with the application development teams and Client to make corrections and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure optimal resilience of deployed systems and meet all disaster recovery and compliance requirements dictated by the business.
  • Interface with external vendors in troubleshooting complex, cross-platform issues.
  • Will be required to comply fully with the bank's general policies on attendance, compliance and professional conduct.
Minimum required qualifications
  • Strong Knowledge and experience with HTTP servers such as Client, Apache etc.
  • Strong Knowledge and experience with WebSphere Application Server 7.x, 8.x.
  • Strong Knowledge and experience with Tomcat, JBOSS EAP, WebLogic and IIS
  • Strong Knowledge and experience with Enterprise File Transfer protocols; HTTP, HTTPS etc.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, AIX, SUN Solaris, and Linux.
  • Knowledge of Databases (Oracle, MS SQL, Sybase SQL)
  • Strong knowledge and experience with UNIX and Windows scripting.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Python and Ansible.
  • Ability to work on an on-call rotation.
  • Willingness to adapt to the changes constantly introduced by the Bank's dynamic environment.
  • Experienced as a team player working in a global team
  • Ability to manage conflicting requests on time in a continually fast moving environment
