Overview

Lacroix Private Lab, a member of the Lacroix Medical Group, is experiencing strong growth and plays a central role in private medical services in Quebec. The Medical Microbiologist or Infectious Diseases Consultant Microbiologist acts as an expert consultant to support the laboratory's clinical and scientific activities, reporting to the laboratory management and in collaboration with the Director of Microbiology and her team (Deputy Head, Managers, and Scientific Directors).

Mandate

The medical microbiologist or consulting infectious disease microbiologist provides specialized expertise in medical microbiology and infectious diseases to ensure the scientific quality of analyses, support clinical interpretation, ensure regulatory compliance, and guide best practices in infection prevention and management. They act as an external reference for the scientific department and managers, providing strategic, clinical, and educational support.

Main Responsibilities
  • Scientific and Clinical Expertise: Advise microbiology and laboratory management on best practices in microbiology and infectious diseases.
  • Support the interpretation of complex or atypical results and contribute to the development of clinical opinions.
  • Provide expertise in the selection, validation, and implementation of new analytical methods or technologies.
Compliance and Quality
  • Provide an advisory role to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and requirements (LSPQ, PHAC, CFIA, Accreditation Canada).
  • Collaborate in updating internal procedures and quality audits.
Management of Infectious Risks
  • Support the team in identifying and managing infectious risks (biosafety, collection chain, sample transport).
  • Participate in the development of infection prevention and control protocols.
Training and Knowledge Transfer
  • Train and advise microbiology teams and other laboratory departments (biochemistry, pathology).
  • Offer continuing education activities to representatives, managers, and clinical partners on infectious diseases.
Scientific Representation and Development
  • Participate in scientific committees, conferences, and professional meetings to position Lacroix Labo Privé as a reference in microbiology and infectious diseases.
  • Establish and maintain collaborations with other experts and academic institutions.
Required Profile
  • Doctorate in Medicine and completed medical residency in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases or Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology, biochemistry or biomedical sciences.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a medical laboratory (hospital or university) with expertise in infectious diseases.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of biosafety standards, infection control practices, and Canadian microbiology regulations.
  • Skills: Scientific leadership, methodological rigor, excellent communication and popularization skills.
  • Languages: Bilingual French/English, oral and written.
Positioning in the structure
  • Reporting to the scientific department and providing direct support to the management of Microbiology.
  • Close collaboration with other specialized departments (biochemistry, pathology, logistics, sales, and SAC).
  • External consultant status (professional fees, service agreement).

Schedule: Part-time (a few hours per week or per project), no full-time clinical workload.
