Job description

Client’s is to establish a nationally recognized premium brand of lifestyle-improving, high-margin, cannabinoid-based products. They plan to achieve this by offering a superior customer experience and by having a superior product through investing in research and development on extracts, drugs, and combinatory molecules.

As the market continues to evolve, the company will leverage its well-established mass premium brand (masstige) to develop patented cannabinoid-based products, diversifying into cosmetics, personal hygiene, and care products through non-MMPR retail channels.

The client’s market is large consumer-based prestige; premium products that are attainable. Their products will be priced at or near the top of their category, yet still accessible to middle-market consumers. The marketing strategy will focus on leveraging the mass prestige brand and emphasizing functionality, making people feel better depending on common time-of-day symptoms.

Scope of Position

The VP Sales reports to the Chief Operations Officer and will drive the company’s revenues, including customer retention, renewal, and acquisition. As the company grows, this executive will build and manage a Customer Service and Sales organization.

This role requires a hands-on, strategic leader responsible for directing all sales efforts, developing and executing sales strategies aligned with current and future product offerings, and ensuring revenue growth across all segments and regions. The VP Sales will also refine sales processes and reporting systems.

Responsibilities:
  1. Achieve customer acquisition targets: 500 customers by September 2015 and 4,500 by September 2017.
  2. Develop plans and strategies to expand business and meet revenue and profit goals.
  3. Lead and develop the Sales and Customer Service teams, operations, and resources.
  4. Design and oversee incentive programs to motivate sales teams and meet sales objectives.
  5. Implement sales training programs to enhance consultative selling and interpersonal skills.
  6. Establish channel and distribution strategies.
  7. Collaborate with COO to refine value propositions and lead generation initiatives.
  8. Work with Marketing to evolve product strategies based on market and customer insights.
  9. Manage the sales process, set metrics, and provide accurate sales forecasts.
  10. Prepare reports and metrics to monitor sales performance.
  11. Participate in budget planning, focusing on sales forecasting and pipeline management.
  12. Develop infrastructure and systems, including CRM management, to support sales success.
  13. Manage the sales pipeline to meet or exceed business plans.
  14. Model and promote a positive company culture.
  15. Foster a results-driven, team-oriented environment through collaboration.
Preferred Experience/Education

University/College degree with over five years of sales experience, including at least five years in retail sales with masstige brands or CPG industries, and a minimum of three years in senior management.

  • Proven ability to build, lead, and develop sales teams, including inside sales and direct customer relationships.
  • Experience scaling inside sales operations for direct-to-consumer sales.
  • Experience growing revenues from $1M to over $3M.
  • Established contacts with potential customers and channel partners.
  • Strong business acumen and budget management skills.
  • Commitment to exceeding customer expectations and high customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to strategize and operate at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Experience with sales applications like Salesforce.com.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Resilience under pressure and stress management skills.
