Job Summary

The Emterra Maintenance/Repair team in Barrie, Ontario is seeking a skilled Floor Truck Mechanic or Apprentice to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair automotive and truck systems, perform scheduled PM maintenance, and maintain accurate work documentation. This role involves diagnosing and repairing components in accordance with company policy and manufacturer specifications, testing equipment for proper performance, supporting daily operations, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring a safe, organized work environment. We are seeking licensed 310T Truck and Coach technicians and apprentices for our Barrie location for day and afternoon shifts (4‑day work week 10‑hour shifts / 5‑day work week).

Position Description
  • As a floor Truck Mechanic/Apprentice, keep maintenance reports, work orders and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Diagnose and complete all repairs safely and within company policy and manufacturer specifications.
  • Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive and truck systems including fuel systems, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, chassis, frame, cab, body, air brakes, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized repair equipment.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Communicate regularly with managers regarding repair status and concerns.
  • Work as part of a team to support the daily needs of the operation.
  • Provide guidance and instruct apprentices and other junior team members.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubricants, and tune ups.
  • Maintain a clean & organized shop/equipment work area.
  • Suggest positive changes to processes or procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Observe safe work practices.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 310T or Red Seal License; or equivalent to challenge provincial exam.
  • 3‑4 years working experience in the trade preferred.
  • Must have completed training courses in the trade.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems is an asset.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic proficiency with use of computers.
  • Previous work experience in working with online preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ability to stand/lift 60lbs/carrying/bending/twisting for periods at a time/repeatedly.
  • Effective communication skills (both written & verbal).
  • Punctual, reliable, team player.
  • Must have the ability to speak , write and read English.

Salary: $42.90/Hour
