Overview

The Assistant Terrain Park Supervisor works as part of the Mountain Operations team. They will assist in all aspects of the Terrain Parks including training new staff, ensuring all Terrain Park staff are competent in the Canada West Ski Area Association’s Terrain Parks Resource Guide as well as Marmot Basin’s procedures and policies, constructing/maintaining/testing Terrain Park features, ensuring the Terrain Park department is coordinated with the needs of other departments, and generally overseeing the daily departmental requirements under the direction (or in the absence) of the Terrain Park Supervisor. The Assistant Terrain Park Supervisor will also help maintain records and documents such as daily Terrain Park logs, Terrain Park incident reports, employee training files, etc. The incumbent should expect to be working outside in all weather conditions. This is a full-time seasonal role, 5 days out of 7 per week.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in all aspects of the Terrain Parks, including construction/maintenance/testing of Terrain Park features.
  • Train and develop staff; ensure competency in the Terrain Parks Resource Guide and Marmot Basin procedures and policies.
  • Coordinate Terrain Park activities with other departments and support daily departmental requirements under the Terrain Park Supervisor (or in their absence).
  • Maintain records and documents (e.g., daily Terrain Park logs, incident reports, employee training files).
  • Support safety operations in responding to Terrain Park-related emergencies and accidents.
  • Manage staff schedules and departmental payroll requirements to ensure sufficient staffing for safe operation.
  • Provide training and scheduling per Marmot Basin’s Terrain Park Training Manual and industry best practices.
  • Ensure terrain park staff are competent in duties, procedures, and emergency procedures.
  • Assist with opening/closing procedures and inventory of Terrain Park tools and materials.
  • Work safely, identify safety concerns, and maintain compliance with Terrain Park safety procedures.
Qualifications
  • Ski Industry experience (Terrain Park/Freestyle experience preferred).
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • CSIA/CASI Freestyle Instructor/Coach certification.
  • Able to ski/snowboard in all mountain terrains and conditions.
  • Risk management experience; physically & mentally fit; able to lift/push/pull 55 lbs.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or better).
  • Core competencies: professional customer service, teamwork, ability to work under pressure, problem-solving, and outdoor-focused passion.
  • Ability to work outside in severe weather conditions.
